Hey there! We’re Doug and Chrissy, the couple behind Wood It Good. I bet you want to know who we are and what makes us qualified to talk about woodworking. Well, first things first…
We love making stuff together.
We use saws, chisels, and lots of imagination to turn plain wood into cool things. I sure hope you’ll hang out and learn to do it with us!
Before we get in too deep, if you need to get a hold of us, you can contact us here!
About Chrissy
I’m Chrissy, Doug’s wife and the mother of our two children, Tadpole and Lilypad (they played in the pond outside so much that the nicknames stuck).
I grew up in a crafty family, where if something broke we fixed it ourselves.
This really taught me to appreciate hard work and how to be self sufficient.
I do most of the writing for the blog, and take pictures when I can!
About Doug
I’m Doug, Chrissy’s husband and a woodworker with deep roots in the craft, thanks to my grandpa (gramps)!
He taught me everything I know. He taught me the ins and outs of the trade, and I’ve been working with my hands ever since.
And that’s something I’ve been passing down to my kids.
I supply a lot of the know-how for the blog.
How We Got Started!
Woodworking is more than just a hobby for us, it’s a family tradition.
We both grew up understanding the value of doing something yourself, and were lucky enough that we had people who could teach us how.
Doug’s grandpa was a great teacher and an even better man, he taught Doug and his brother how to take build everything.
Fences, bookshelves, sheds, jewelry boxes (what do you think I got for our anniversary last year?)… You name it, Doug knows how to build it because of him.
My parents and I didn’t have much growing up, but we made do and built a lot for ourselves, whenever we could. And now I know how to take care of pretty much anything I need to because of it.
What my parents and his grandfather had in common wasn’t just independence and hard work… It was also how generous they all are.
Which brings us too…
Why Are We Making This Blog?
I don’t want to keep the fun to myself and my family. That’s why we started Wood It Good.
Our goal is to make woodworking accessible, informative, and fun for everyone.
Now, my husband and I are working together to make this site so we can help folks tackle their woodworking problems and rediscover or learn just how much fun it is to build something from scratch.
Here at Wood It Good, we believe in the value of hard work, tradition, and the pride that comes from creating something with your hands!
Whether you’re brand new and don’t even know where to start, a seasoned woodworker or just getting back into the swing of things, we’re here to help.
Our site is filled with easy-to-follow, practical guides that anyone can use, whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve your craft.
We dig up useful woodworking plans to make sure you have everything you need for your next project.
Doug and I know how important it is to stay connected to the values that matter… family, craftsmanship, and doing a job well. This is all tied together and what we want to bring out in everything we do.
Now, lets roll up our sleeves and get to work. Let’s keep the tradition of woodworking alive together!
I’m looking forward to seeing you guys around, so don’t be afraid to drop me a line either in the comments or through my contact area!
